Good For You All Over!

A quiet hour for homework is provided from 4:00-5:00PM, Monday through Thursday.
At least two staff members are available to provide help and support. Often we have
high school and college students volunteer as well as our own students helping each other.
As children finish their homework they move on to scheduled learning activities.

We provide the time, place and materials to create with a variety of activities.
Drama, pretend, art, crafts, drawing, and food preparations encourage children to create.
The planning of special projects like haunted houses and fairs develop additional
creativity skills in older students.

Familiar faces greet children warmly, by name, before and after school. Children
need not worry about early dismissals, or whose pick up day it is with the stability of
our program. Joys or worries of their day are shared. Children can depend on our routine
and the fact that we will be here again for them the following day.

We limit children's time at sit down activities like PlayStation. Our TV
is rarely used. We encourage indoor and outdoor movement activities like dance,
sports, group games, ribbon dancing, TAE BO ©, hula hoops and jump ropes. Our 5:15PM,
physical group games include indoor scooters, tug of war, rainbow tag, human bowling,
and other fun activities.

English is the language spoken and heard throughout our program. Through
friendships, homework, and play, children practice listening and speaking in English.
While children who are learning two languages are celebrated, they are also
continuously guided to increase and develop their English skills.

You will find clothing and cooking utensils from different countries in our
play centers. Objects from around the world decorate our area. We embrace many
cultures by honoring their celebrations. Many of our celebrations, traditions and
art and craft projects are multicultural.

We offer many opportunities for mental creativity and resourcefulness. During
play with friends our children use our stage, dress up clothes, puppet theatre,
crafts, and more. Our well supplied centers, as well as our themes, projects, and
resource materials, encourage use of imagination.

We serve a variety of breads, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, 100% juices and
low fat milk. Fresh, cold water is always available in containers children can access.
Children are engaged in healthy choices through education and exploration of creative
recipes. We serve a warm breakfast each morning and provide two healthy snacks daily
after school at 3:00PM and 5:00PM.

Children quickly acclimate to our school as K-8th grade students are all here
together as one family. Children eat, play, study and enjoy each other's company in
many ways. Younger children bask in the attention of our older students. Children are
guided to work things out with others to encourage self-reliance, prior to asking staff
for help.

We do projects for holidays (traditional American and those from other
countries). Our art and craft supply center is available almost daily for
children's creative spontaneity. Come and see our "art gallery" in March as
children sketch from artists' prints.

A warm breakfast is served each morning. After school our kitchen
is used for our snacks and cooking projects.

It has become a tradition to celebrate many holidays, both American and
International. In addition, we have our yearly fair and Stone Soup Meal. We
make special dough crosses to honor our First Communion children each year. Many
of our celebrations have become our own traditions.

We celebrate every special occasion! Children and staff Birthdays, Communion
and Confirmation, Kindergarten's end of the year, and 8th grade graduation are all
special celebrations. We also celebrate traditional American holidays as well as
many other ethnic celebrations.

Children stay in our school building to enter our program. Attendance is
taken as our school dismisses and our children arrive. Scheduled children are accounted for.
Our entrance is locked and children are not allowed to open the door. Only persons on a
child's registration form may sign to release them.

Our Director opened our program in 1984 and is still greeting our
children as they arrive each day. No matter what time school is dismissed
or which family member comes to pick up our children, our program and our
familiar faces are the first thing they see each morning and after school ends.

Come by for a visit and see our children's smiling faces!
