Extended Care Details

Hours

Afternoons: from ALL dismissal times until 6:00PM

Normally school dismisses at 3:00PM, but we are also open for our earlier dismissals, at 12:30 & 1:30PM.

We are NOT open school holidays, vacations, or the first or last day of school.

Location

We are located on the first floor and have use of our auditorium, stage, kitchen, learning center (aka Older Kids Only room), Kindergarten room, school yard and other school facilities (as needed). Families use the Wayland Street entrance, and the doorbell provided.

Eligibility

Our program is available to all students enrolled in our school, from Kindergarten - 8th grade.

Scheduled or Drop In Care

Children can attend extended care on a scheduled basis, full time or part time, mornings and/or after school. They are also welcome to attend on a drop in basis as needed, either prepaid or paid the month following care. Drop in care may be arranged by phone, note or in person. For safety reasons, all children not picked up by 15 minutes past dismissal are required to check into our program. Children arriving without previous notification must wait our 15 minute grace period.

Snacks

We will provide snacks daily by 3:15PM. We suggest that you provide a backup snack for children needing additional snacks (especially later in the day) or for children who may choose not to eat what we are serving.
Our microwave is available for late snacks only, after 5:00PM.

Homework

Homework is supervised, normally from 4:00-5:00PM Mondays through Thursdays. Computers with internet access and encyclopedias are available as needed.

Activities

Early dismissal days and Fridays allow more time for planned activities which can include cooking, crafts, music, drama or sports. Centers open during free time allow for spontaneous use of many supplies and activities.
Mornings are peaceful and may include sit down activities such as board games, drawing books, Lego's, reading, "G" rated videos or the "Animal Planet" television program.

What To Bring

Children must bring lunches for our 12:30PM dismissal days. (Sorry, we cannot heat lunches!) You may want to provide a change of clothes on Fridays and minimum days, when we do most projects. Non-perishable backup snacks are also recommended. Please be sure your child's name is on everything you send! Even uniform clothing and shoes can be switched when changing, without names.

Cancellation or Schedule Changes

Parents wishing to discontinue or change the scheduled use of our program should notify the Director prior to the student being removed, or charges will continue. For billing ease, we appreciate these changes effective on the 15th or 30th of the month.

Fill out a separate registration form for each child. Return the form with the appropriate registration fee before needing care to begin so we have your important information. Registration forms are available for download here.
